Consultative Meeting with EU Delegation to Thailand on the changes of the new Customs Act 2017

On 26 June 2017, EABC President, Mr. Rolf-Dieter Daniel, led the EABC working groups to meet with Delegation of the European Union to Thailand to share broad overviews and new developments related to the new Customs Act 2017.

It has been reviewed how the new governmental policies are going to affect the transport and logistics industry in order to import and export goods in Thailand. Discussion pertained the regulations of import and export tariffs, the import/export of prohibited and restricted goods and the penalties for infringements.

The President underlined in this context that the definition of transit is, from the European point of view, rather outdated and not business friendly. Both the EU Delegation as well as the President shared the opinion, that an adaption of European standards would help Thailand to achieve their aim to become the hub of ASEAN.
