Information & Communication Technologies Business Mission to Singapore and Thailand on 26-27 May

EABC was a supporter and co-organiser of the Information & Communication Technologies event held on 26 and 27 May 2017, under the EU Business Avenues in South East Asia banner at the Intercontinental Hotel. EABC was represented by the Chair of the Digital Economy / ICT Working Group Mr. Bob Fox and Executive Director Mr. Peter Bjork. This event included bringing some 50 ICT SMEs to Singapore then Thailand, representing a range of size and innovative services and applications.

Mr. Philipp Dupuis, Head of Trade and Economic Section, Delegation of the European Union to Thailand welcomed the participants and Mr. Bob Fox presented on engaging in the Digital Economy in Thailand and in a separate session also introduced five ‘European’ ICT SME Companies active in Thailand (part of the EABC ICT community) to present themselves and their challenges in establishing themselves and growing here in Thailand.

Tips and recommendations for IPR protection in Thailand was delivered by Mr. Franck Fougere, External Expert, South-East Asia IPR SME Helpdesk. Engaging in the Digital Economy in Thailand.

A Panel Discussion on Key Business Opportunities and Trends in Thailand’s Shift Towards a Digital Economy was also part of the programme and included BOI, FTI, ATCI and DEPA.
The European companies also participated in a matchmaking event, ‘Meet-the-Exhibitors Session’ with pre-arranged meetings with local companies before presenting themselves to an invited Thai audience.

In the evening the companies were invited to a networking reception hosted by the EU Ambassador H.E Jesus Miguel Sanz and several European Ambassadors participated.
The programme ended on Saturday with Business-to-business meetings. EABC collaborated with JFCCT in contributing organization for two sessions of the event and in being supporters to promote it.
