EABC – Strengthening IP Enforcement in Thailand 2026: Advancing Integrated Measures to Combat Illicit Trade and Enhance Public Sector Transparency Through Public-Private and ASEAN Cooperation Recap

On 21 October 2026, the European Association for Business and Commerce (EABC), in partnership with the South-East Asia IP SME Helpdesk, organised “Advancing Integrated Measures to Combat Illicit Trade and Enhance Public Sector Transparency Through Public-Private and ASEAN Cooperation” at The Oriental Residence Bangkok.

The event opened with remarks by H.E. Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, who emphasised that combating illicit trade goes beyond arresting offenders and seizing illegal goods. It must also be part of broader economic governance reform to safeguard public revenue, ensure fair competition, enhance public sector transparency and strengthen Thailand’s attractiveness as a regional destination for trade and investment.

In the keynote address, Dr. Kirida Bhaopichitr, Vice Minister for Commerce, highlighted three key pillars in tackling illicit trade: Integration, Implementation and International Cooperation.

The event brought together representatives from government agencies, the European business community, the European Union Delegation to Thailand and academia, including the Excise Department, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and the Office of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC).

Discussions highlighted emerging trends and enforcement challenges, reinforcing the need for stronger inter-agency coordination and public-private cooperation to protect intellectual property, strengthen enforcement and foster a more transparent and competitive business environment in Thailand and across ASEAN.

The event also underscored EABC’s continued advocacy through its Anti-Illicit Trade Sub-Task Force, providing a platform for constructive dialogue and collaboration among public and private sector stakeholders.

EABC extends its sincere appreciation to the South-East Asia IP SME Helpdesk, all speakers, participating organisations and attendees for their valuable contributions. We look forward to continuing our collaboration to advance intellectual property protection, fair competition and a transparent business environment for European businesses in Thailand.
