EABC – EUIPO Roundtable 2026 “Financing Innovation via Intangible Assets: Unlocking Growth through IP-Backed Finance”

On 13 October 2026, representatives of EABC’s Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Working Group participated in the High-Level Ministerial and Senior Executive Roundtable, “Financing Innovation via Intangible Assets: Unlocking Growth through IP-Backed Finance,” organised by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) as part of the official programme of the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok.

The roundtable explored how intellectual property and other intangible assets can help businesses access financing, support innovation, enhance productivity and strengthen competitiveness. Discussions highlighted the importance of recognising intangible assets as valuable economic resources and improving the ways they are valued and considered in financing decisions.

A key takeaway was the need for stronger collaboration among policymakers, financial institutions, IP authorities and the private sector to help innovative businesses, including SMEs, unlock the economic value of their intellectual property and improve access to finance.

The dialogue continued on 14 October, as EUIPO and Thailand’s Department of Intellectual Property convened IP stakeholders from across ASEAN to exchange regional perspectives and explore practical approaches to advancing IP valuation and IP-backed financing. The programme also featured the launch of the ASEAN Practical Guide to Understanding IP Valuation Reports, supporting greater understanding of IP valuation and its role in facilitating access to finance.

EABC welcomes continued collaboration to help businesses unlock the value of their intellectual property, strengthen access to financing and support sustainable economic growth.
