EABC – Participation in the Launch of Thailand Economic Monitor (TEM) 2026

On 11 February 2026, EABC -The European Chamber of Commerce Thailand representatives led by President, Paranee Adulyapichet, and Policy Manager, Pitchapha Suwanalert, participated in the Launch of Thailand Economic Monitor (TEM) February 2026, titled Advanced Green Manufacturing for Growth, organised by The World Bank Thailand, at Intercontinental Hotel Bangkok.

The Thailand Economic Monitor (TEM) event featured remarks by Ms Melinda Good, Division Director for Thailand and Myanmar at the World Bank, and a presentation of key findings from the Thailand Economic Monitor 2026 report. The report highlighted that Thailand continues to face pressures from global economic uncertainty and persistently high household debt levels. These factors are reflected in the World Bank’s projection of Thailand’s economic growth for 2026 at 1.6%. It also underscored a structural concern with the declining contribution of manufacturing to GDP, which has fallen from 31% in 2010 to approximately 25% at present. However, supported by increasing foreign direct investment (FDI) and the recovery of the tourism sector, growth is projected to improve to 2.3% in 2027. This trend signals the need for Thailand to accelerate efforts to green and upgrade its industrial base in order to maintain competitiveness, particularly in three strategic sectors; electric vehicles (EVs), solar photovoltaic (solar PV) systems, and energy-efficient air conditioning.

The event further included an open-floor discussion with industry leaders on the theme “Taking Advanced Green Manufacturing to the World”, providing a platform for participants to exchange insights on the evolving direction of green manufacturing within the global economy
