
Courtesy Call on Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak on January 14, 2016
On 14 January 2016, EABC led by Mr. Rolf-Dieter Daniel, EABC President paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister at the Government House. The courtesy visit was to introduce missions of the EABC as a platform for representing the interests of the European community and exchanged views on concerned trade and investment issues in Thailand.
Participants included representative from the EABC Intellectual Property Rights, Healthcare and Pharmaceutical, Food and Beverage, and Automotive working groups. On this occasion, EABC congratulated on Thailand’s initial achievement in continued efforts to tackle corruption, human trafficking, aviation safety standard and IUU fishing issues.
During the discussion, major points included service sector liberalization, revision of laws and regulations to better facilitate business operations, investment in transport infrastructure project, alcohol labelling, plain packaging, draft Drug Act and automotive standardization, among others. The Deputy Prime Minister promised his full support to the European business community and therefore keeps the dialogue door open to better understand the situation of trade and investment and boost the overall ease of doing business in Thailand.
