DIP Consultation 2017
On 7 July 2017, Department of Intellectual Property held a meeting with European Association for Business and Commerce (EABC). Mr. Thosapone Dansuputra, Director-General of the Intellectual Property Department, welcomed the EABC President, Mr. Rolf-Dieter Daniel and all the participants to the meeting. The meeting was also joined by representatives from EU Delegation to Thailand, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and Royal Thai Customs Department.
Mr. Thosapone Dansuputra appreciated that the President congratulated him on his new appointment as Director-General of the Intellectual Property Department. He expressed his appreciation to see most of participants are members of EABC as well as full support on Section 44 to solve IP issues.
The President also thanked DIP for their engagement on the Licensing Facilitation Act (LFA), in close cooperation with OPDC and EABC, to ensure transparency and effectiveness.
The meeting discussed, among other things, on intellectual property and trademark protection and the Director-General informed the participants on that matter that he aims to eliminate IP infringements in the so-called red zones (Pantip Plaza, Khlong Thom, Baan Mor, Sukhumvit Road, Patpong and MBK). The subject of infringements has also been taken up in the media and in several campaigns implemented by the DIP in order to sensitize the population to this issue; since beginning of this year, some progress could already be noted.
