On 16 July 2026, the second day of the EABC / EU-ABC Mission Trip to Thailand, EABC and the EU-ABC delegation continued their high-level engagements with the Thai Government at a timely moment for EU-Thailand relations, as both sides work towards concluding the EU-Thailand Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
It was a great honour to begin the day with a courtesy meeting with H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand, at Government House. The European business delegation reaffirmed that Thailand remains one of Europe’s leading investment destinations, recognising its strategic location, strong manufacturing base, and commitment to facilitating the mobility of skilled talent. The delegation also welcomed the government’s focus on advancing high-value industries, the digital economy, clean energy, and sustainable development, while expressing its strong support for the Thailand-EU FTA and Thailand’s OECD accession.
The delegation also met with the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, led by Dr. Kanjana Kwanmuang, Deputy Secretary-General, to exchange views on farmer productivity, agricultural value chains, and water and food resilience.
The meeting with the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), led by Deputy Secretary-General Tanita Sirisup, focused on strengthening Thailand-EU investment cooperation, with discussions covering the investment climate, regulatory developments, sustainability, healthcare, and the digital economy.
At the Ministry of Transport, H.E. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, led discussions on transport infrastructure, multimodal connectivity, logistics efficiency, and sustainable mobility to strengthen Thailand’s position as a regional trade and investment hub.
The day concluded with a meeting at the Ministry of Finance, led by Santitarn Sathirathai, Vice Minister of Finance, where discussions centred on economic policy, financial sector development, healthcare financing, and sustainability, while highlighting the importance of continued public-private collaboration to support Thailand’s long-term competitiveness and economic resilience.
