ASEAN EU Business Summit 2013

ASEAN EU Business Summit 2013

EABC has participated at the third ASEAN-EU Business Summit which took place in Hanoi on 8 and 9 March 2013. Following the successful Summits, in Indonesia in 2011 and Cambodia 2012, this year’s Summit brought together high-level politicians and business leaders from ASEAN and the EU. It was an important opportunity for the regional business community to discuss private sector recommendations with policymakers.

At the Summit the Prime Minister of Vietnam, the EU Trade Commissioner, the ASEAN Trade Ministers as well as regional business leaders discussed opportunities, challenges and recommendations for an improved business environment in one of the world’s most promising common markets, ASEAN. The ASEAN-EU Business Summit 2013 was hosted at the Melia Hotel in Hanoi, and over 600 local and international high-level decision makers and international business leaders attended to discuss how to further improve business in key trade and investment sectors. The sectors covered during the Summit were: Agri-business, Automotive, Financial Services, ICT, Infrastructure/Connectivity and Pharmaceuticals. Results of the discussions have been presented to the 10 ASEAN Trade Ministers and the EU Commissioner for Trade at the end of the Summit, making it the ideal platform to advance private sector recommendations to policy makers on regional issues.
