World Bank Virtual Roundtable on Thailand Economic Monitor on 6 August
On 6th August 2021, EABC representatives participated in this virtual roundtable focusing on Thailand’s economic recovery as a result of the economic recession from Covid-19. This event organized by the World Bank following the World Bank’s release of its quarterly Thailand Economic Monitor (TEM) in July 2021. The discussion is highly fruitful on economic and business direction during and after the pandemic.
Comments in the dialogue included the importance of supporting economic recovery through service sector liberalisation, productivity enhancement, improved ease of doing business and other measures. While the focus and immediacy of responses to the pandemic have been about survival and support, and may have crowded out longer term economic development policy, medium and long term development measures are needed more than ever,
EABC has also taken the significance of Thailand’s economic monitor and recovery plans into account for the EABC 2021-2022 position paper to restore and strengthen the Thai economy in a sustainable and efficient manner for the national economy and our members in the European Business community in Thailand.
