Special Announcement 23.05.14
After the announcement of a coup d’ etat by the military yesterday, Thursday 22 May 2014, it has been business as usual in general during the daytime. Public administration is now run by the civil servants, after the Peace and Order Maintaining Command (POMC), led by the Army Chief, ordered the Permanent Secretaries of all Ministries to temporarily assume the role of Acting Ministers during the current political vacuum period.
Foreign business persons in Thailand are encouraged to follow the news closely, particularly the official announcements broadcasted on television and radio. News from unofficial media should be cross-checked. It is also advisable to spare additional 1-2 hours for travelling in Bangkok in the evening as the curfew starts from 22.00 – 05.00hrs, with a few exceptions, such as the cases where people have to travel out of or into the country.

All public and private education institutes will be closed from 23 – 25 May 2014.
