NBTC Dialogue on foreign equity

On 1 November 2016, EABC’s Chairman of ICT, Mr. Robert Fox, led the EABC Executives to discuss with NBTC’s Director, Dr. Pratompong Srinuan, and Exec Director of the Chairman Affair and Meeting Bureau Mr Chalermchai Kokkeadtikul at the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) .

The meeting was also joined by representatives from JFCCT.  A paper (jointly developed by EABC and JFCCT) was presented covering the role of telecoms in the Digital Economy, Digital Economy laws, internet governance, foreign equity regulation in the telecoms sector, the Foreign Dominance Notification, SOE evolution, the importance of a single, independent regulator and related matters. The meeting received positive support for lifting foreign equity limits and related industry developments, including proposals for dialogue on these messages at the senior-most levels in government.
