Message of the President

As a year of unexpected challenges comes to an end, I wish to thank each and every one of our members, sponsors and friends for your unwavering support for the EABC. 2020 was a year of endurance. Our families and businesses have weathered the threat of COVID-19, which has severely changed our private and professional lives. Social distancing regulations have impeded our ability to get together, but most certainly have not weakened our resolve, nor hindered our creativity, as we have leveraged technology to continue advancing the EABC’s mission. Despite these challenges, I am overwhelmed with pride at our resilience and filled with hope for the future. Our Board of Directors made significant progress this year in our ongoing dialogue with the Government on legislation to improve Thailand’s regulatory environment—a promising development.

The EABC remains committed to serving the diverse interests of European businesses in Thailand and advocating for legislation that will allow our community to thrive in the future. Work is underway on a number of projects, collectively known as the Top Set, which encompass Ease of Doing Business, Thai-EU FTA, Business Continuity Support, economic recovery, service sector liberalization, automotive roadmap, educational reforms, free movement of goods, energy security and sustainability, digital transformation, promoting rule of law, circular economy and achieving Thailand 4.0, among others. In the coming months and years, the EABC will continue to promote an inclusive dialogue on regulatory and economic reform. We welcome our members’ input and participation in the process.

The EABC is an association which represents the collective interests of many countries; as such, unity will always be our strength. In the coming year, I warmly encourage all existing members to invite new members and continue to engage in our programming. In times of uncertainty, we remain dedicated to outreach in pursuit of strengthening our members’ business networks, and to providing assistance to our current members in any way we can.
