EABC – Shaping the Future of Foreign Business Facilitation in Thailand

On 29 January 2026, EABC representatives attended the seminar “Shaping the Future of Foreign Business Facilitation in Thailand”, organised by the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce, bringing together over 600 participants from embassies, foreign chambers, the private sector, and the investor community.

In her opening remarks, H.E. Ms. Suphajee Suthumpun, Minister of Commerce, outlined Thailand’s policy direction to strengthen its position as a competitive, transparent, and trusted investment destination. The seminar provided updates on the implementation of the Foreign Business Act B.E. 2542 (1999), with a focus on investment facilitation, licensing procedures, and regulatory enforcement.

Key initiatives highlighted included fast-track licensing, clearer application guidelines, and the rollout of digital services such as the e-Foreign Business system, aimed at reducing procedural burdens for legitimate foreign businesses. At the same time, enhanced enforcement measures, including inter-agency cooperation and the use of data and AI were emphasised to prevent illegal business practices and ensure fairness and transparency.

The discussion also underscored the importance of human capital development, particularly skills bridging and better alignment between investor needs and Thailand’s labour market, as a foundation for sustainable investment.

With Thailand’s extensive FTA network and ongoing negotiations, including the upcoming next round of EU–Thailand FTA negotiations in February, regulatory clarity, transparency, and effective implementation will be increasingly important to maximise the benefits of international trade and investment.
