EABC - Illicit Trade Sub-Task Force Meeting #2 2025

On 4 September 2025, EABC -The European Chamber of Commerce Thailand held the second meeting of the Illicit Trade Sub-Task Force in a hybrid format at the JTI Office.

As a sub-task force under the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Working Group led by Ms. Pavinee Bunyamissara, this taskforce was established to ensure focused discussion and advocacy on the issue of illicit trade in Thailand.

During the meeting, members discussed the current illicit trade situation across key sectors of the Thai economy, especially beverages, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and tobacco. Participants highlighted the significant negative impacts of illicit trade on both Thailand’s economy and its development in various dimensions. The discussion also included further policy recommendations from the 2025 business position paper and particular action plans to advance the sub-task force’s advocacy efforts in combating illicit trade, with a particular focus on deepening engagement with relevant stakeholders.
