Calling for Industry Feedback on the Proposed Commission Communication “Strengthening the Role of the Private Sector in Achieving Inclusive and Sustainable Growth in Developing Countries

The EU Commissioner for Development Mr Andris Pielbalgs has started the preparation for the Communication on “Strengthening the Role of the Private Sector in Achieving Inclusive and Sustainable Growth in Developing Countries” to be adopted in the first semester of 2014.

Engaging more directly with the private sector in development cooperation, is a relatively new era in development policy, in which the Commission considers as important that it be informed by consultations with a broad range of stakeholders. In this vein, EABC would highly appreciate receiving feedbacks from European business/private sector in Thailand on the issues and questions laid out in the Communication (please refer to page 6-10). EABC will coordinate all feedbacks from European industry to the Commission correspondingly.

List of issues and questions have been identified in the Issue Paper on the Communication in order to provide the Commission with information to assist it in establishing priorities and providing a clearer picture from the perspective of private sector on the relevance, relative importance and completeness of issues to be addressed in its Communication. Your reply to these issues and questions is important in this process and we thank you in advance for your kind contribution.
