SUMMARY:BIG19 One Belt One Road
DESCRIPTION:             \n                      \n                       \nAs the second largest global economy\, China maintains a population of 1.38 billion people with $9 trillion GDP that is expected to double in growth within the next few years. With an expanding and increasingly affluent middle class\, China has emerged as a market which is impossible to ignore for any business looking to establish a true global footprint. \nThis increase in economic reach has affected neighbouring countries\, including Thailand through tourism and economic investment. In 2017\, China has become Thailand’s number 1 provider of tourism revenue\, and has spurred a number of local initiatives aiming to capture the Chinese tourism yuan. Additionally\, Chinese investment in Thailand is expected to increase within the coming years in areas such as real estate\, resorts\, and a recently announced railroad link that will form a key part of the “One Belt One Road”. This project was launched to provide increased connectivity between ASEAN and Europe\, aligning with the Thailand 4.0 and the Eastern Economic Corridor strategic initiatives. \nThe linkages and impacts between the two countries are clear. With it’s purchasing power and reach\, China’s economic impact will bring forth significant change to Thailand\, and provide opportunities for local based business to capitalise on. \nOur special panel at #BIG 19 will discuss the “One Belt One Road” initiative\, and share their expertise on how to market to Chinese customers in the latter part of 2017 and beyond. In particular\, the panel discussion will cover the following topics: \n\nHow can Thailand and ASEAN based businesses understand Chinese purchasing trends\nHow to market products effectively to Chinese consumers\nWhat the initiative would mean for the local economy in the near term\n\nApart from participating in the actual panel discussion itself\, you will have the opportunity to meet with the speakers individually and build professional connections with the others in attendance. \n \n

SUMMARY:BIG18: Lost in Translation
DESCRIPTION:Date: 30 August 2017 (06:00 PM – 09:00 PM)\nVenue: Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok \nLanguage and culture vary drastically from one country to another and should be addressed as a organizational issue rather than an HR issue. But it is not just what you say but rather of how the message is conveyed. \nWhile Northern Europeans might value directness\, Thai people might avoid direct confrontations. Likewise\, Europeans might grow up with multiple languages\, they still find themselves lost in a new cultural environment. Language and culture can sometimes be: same same but very different\, so to say. \nBIG18 aims to clarify how important are different languages and cultural sensitivities in the working environment? Can you afford being passive about not learning a new language and how much profit is lost in regards to ineffective communication? \nAccording to Deliotte University research\, 82% of people questioned believe that culture is a competitive advantage in a global world and can also be the deciding factor during times of change: Mergers\, acquisitions or international expansion. \nWhat the audience can expect:\n* How to create more high-impact customers and employees\n* Different perceptions of time across cultures\n* To meet language professionals\, experienced coaches as well as foreigners who have successfully integrated into Thai culture\n* How stereotypical thinking can negatively affect your business\n* The importance of non verbal communication\nSo to say\, get ready to learn the language of the world. \n ******* SPECIAL FOR EABC MEMBERS : 500 THB.
