DESCRIPTION:They are pleased to invite you to participate in the EU-Nepal Business Forum to be held in Kathmandu at Hotel Yak and Yeti during 8-9th May 2023. \nNepal’s potential for investment and trade has been steadily increasing over the years. The country’s diverse geography\, abundant natural resources\, and young labour force make it an attractive destination for investment in various sectors\, including manufacturing\, agro- processing\, energy\, tourism\, and other service sectors. Nepal’s growing middle class population and advantageous location between two rapidly growing economies\, India and China\, also provides investors with access to a large domestic market as well as a preferential market access to neighbouring countries. \nNepal has made remarkable progress towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in recent years and is set to graduate from its Least Developed Country (LDC) status by 2026. The graduation also signals Nepal’s readiness for business. However\, unleashing business opportunities will need additional efforts such as organization of business forums to enhance networking and collaboration between business communities and the public sector. \nThe EEC-Nepal has joined hands with the Government of Nepal\, EU Delegation in Nepal and GIZ to organize the first EU-Nepal Business Forum 2023. The business forum will provide a platform for EU and Nepali investors and governments together to explore opportunities that exist in Nepal and the EU member states. \nThe objectives of the Forum are to showcase business\, trade\, investment\, and FDI opportunities in Nepal; provide a platform for Government to Government (G2G)\, Government to Business (G2B) and Business to Business (B2B) dialogues and networking opportunities to promote trade and investment between Nepal and the EU; raise awareness of the various trading arrangements between the EU and Nepal; and explore/discuss policy and legal measures that can be undertaken to facilitate investment. \nThey are looking forward to seeing you in the business forum. DESCRIPTION:Artificial Intelligence has been with us for decades. Its uses have become widely embedded to make assessments\, predictions\, various decisions and has other functions. \nBut the way AI is programmed has become controversial. Ethical AI or similarly named approaches have become Guidelines and even legislation.   (Ethical AI is artificial intelligence which adheres to well-defined ethical guidelines regarding fundamental values\, including such things as individual rights\, privacy\, non-discrimination\, and non-manipulation). \nGenerative AI (eg OpenAI’s ChatGPT) became popularly known only in 2022. It is able to generate original looking content such as writing a term paper\, a speech\, doing a translation etc. However there is a dark side. False information (fake news) and other bad outcomes have occurred resulting in defamation suits and other remedies. In response\, some companies have devised preventions and filters.  A big question in academe is to ensure originality in student work. \nMachine Learning is understanding and building methods that let machines “learn” – that is\, methods that leverage data to improve computer performance on some set of tasks. Training data teaches the machine. It can be seen as a subset of AI. \n Join the Spanish-Thai Chamber and JFCCT’s Digital Economy/ICT group for a dive into understanding trends\, issues and developments.
